Q. would this item be suitable to use as a guitar pick up if attached to a 1/4 inch jack and then plugged into a guitar amp?
The guitar strings would be nylon.
If this isn't suitable could you suggest one that was?

It would work but may only pickup a decent level when playing loudly. For the best results it would need to be attached well to the body of the guitar to ensure it picks up the maximum vibrations.
