The Bluefruit EZ-Link from Adafruit can pair with a tablet or computer as an SPP (Serial Port Profile) client link so that is appears as a serial or COM port. The EZ-Link will automatically sync to baud rates from 2400 to 230400 bits per second and stay synced without any user intervention. In addition to acting as a simple serial link, it can also act as a wireless FTDI cable meaning it can program an Arduino or Orangepip from 10m away. Once the Arduino has been programmed the EZ-Link lets you use the serial console too. A µ1F capacitor is included with the board to go between the DTR and Reset pins if you want to take advantage of wireless programming. Adafruit supply a useful tutorial to get you started.
Supplied as a fully assembled board plus 1 x 6-pin female header, 1 x stick of 6-pin extra-long male header, 1 x 1µF electrolytic capacitor, and a JST connector to allow you to connect a LiPoly battery (not supplied). If you use the JST connector then the EZ-Link can also supply power to the microcontroller it's plugged into.
- Program your Arduino wirelessly up to 10m away
- Auto-baud rate detection up to 230400 bits per second
- Works as a simple serial link once paired
- Tx/Rx LEDs show data traffic
- Connection status pin goes to logic 1 when paired
- Adafruit part no. 1588
Mac OS X, Android and Windows are supported but iOS doesn't allow SPP device pairing, for an iOS bluetooth keyboard have a look at EZ-KEY. Linux is not supported by EZ-LINK.
