The Adafruit ADA3346 Speaker Bonnet for Raspberry Pi uses I2S, a digital sound standard, for the supply of super crisp audio. The digital audio data goes right into the amplifier, so there is no audible static that you would hear when using a headphone jack for example.
This bonnet is super easy to use, and even easier to get started. Simply plug in any 4Ω or 8Ω speakers rated up to 3W, and run Adafruit's installer script on any Raspberry Pi. After a quick reboot, you're ready to jam!
Measuring the exact same size as a Raspberry Pi Zero, this board works with any and all Raspberry Pis with a 2x20 connector. The boards have been tested for use with Raspbian and Retropie, and each order comes as a fully tested and assembled PCB with 2 extra terminal blocks.
There is no soldering required if you're using a 3W speaker set, just plug and play. You can either plug a pair of speakers right into the JST jack in the middle, or you can solder the terminal blocks in and then connect any speaker you like, even a surface transducer!
