MAX038 Function Generator Output Buffer
Reviewed by: H. Chester - Monday, November 17, 2014Having two MAX038 Funcion Generator Chips in my stock cabinets prompted me to build a pair of RF Local Oscllators(LO).
The output level from the MAX038 is +-1Volt Peak to Peak....Hmmm. I needed to Boost/Buffer to +-5v p/p Max. Checking the downloadable data sheet made up my mind. Using two AD817's(per MAX038) with a Gain of 2.5 each in an Inverted configaration was achived with no problems.
Limiting the Maximum Frequency of the MAX038's to 20MHz is well within the Bandwidth of the AD817(50MHz). Problem solved, Thanks to Rapid for their fast delivery.
