This board is a version of the outstanding Arduino Uno development board with the addition of integrated Wi-Fi. The Uno is based around the ATmega328 MCU and mounts the ESP8266 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz Wi-Fi module. Designed for both beginners and advanced users, this board is ideal for those starting out with Arduino or the IoT.

The ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module is a self contained SoC with integrated TCP/IP protocol stack that can give access to your Wi-Fi network. (Or the device can act as an access point.) One useful feature of Uno Wi-Fi is support for OTA (over-the-air) programming, either for transfer of Arduino sketches or Wi-Fi firmware.

The board can be powered either via USB or by an external power supply, with the power source being selected automatically. The recommended input voltage range is 7 to 12V DC and can arrive via AC to DC power adaptor or batteries.

The Uno has 14x digital I/O pins, of which 6x can be used as PWM outputs. There is also 6x analog inputs as well as an ICSP header, USB port and power jack. Communication with other devices can be by UART TTL serial communications or by USB connectivity. Also supported by the ATmega328 are I2C (TWI) and SPI communications. The Arduino software includes a Wire library to simplify use of the I2C bus; for SPI communications the SPI library is used.

The integrated Wi-Fi enables the direct control of sensors and actuators on the Uno board, quickly and easily integrating into IoT applications. The Arduino Wi-Fi can be used as a client of a Wi-Fi network, as a server to connect other client devices or an ad hoc Wi-Fi connection may be created.
