Q. Is it compatible with a HC-06 Wireless Bluetooth module?
A. Hi Harvey, thank you for your question. The HC-06 Wireless Bluetooth module appears to only be for data transfer not audio. You would need a Bluetooth receiver with an audio output.

Friday, May 4, 2018 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. Any info on battery life - assuming good brand 4x1.5 AA batteries playing music 75% maximum continuously? Would battery life extend to be more efficient with more batteries?
A. Hi Mike, thank you for your question. You could expect a good 2-4 hours running from a decent quality battery, as this can use 4.5-24V DC input. A much bigger capacity battery could be used giving a much better life.

Monday, November 13, 2017 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189

A. Hi Will, thank you for your question. The fixing holes are approximately 4mm.

Thursday, September 21, 2017 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. Can this circuit be powered using a USB lead?
A. Hi Paul, thank you for your question. This should be OK with 5V as it requires between 4.5 and 24V. A USB port can handle a maximum of 500mA so it should be OK.

Monday, January 9, 2017 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. If the batteries were in their adaptor and the circuit was plugged into a mains supply at the same time, would the batteries recharge or would this be dangerous?
A. Hi Jacob, thank you for your question. This kit requires standard AA batteries (not rechargeable) or a suitable PSU but only one source should be connected at any one time.

Tuesday, November 15, 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. How many amps would it require if I used a 12V DC power supply
A. Hi Sam, thank you for your question. This will depend on the input signal and volume setting a 3 amp or more supply will be fine, please use a heat sink and paste (36-0292 & 87-1130) on the output device or it will run hot and then fail.

Monday, October 3, 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. Is it possible to swap out the battery pack for a rechargeable battery circuit with battery or not?
A. Hi Robert, thank you for your question. Yes you can as long as the power supply is between 4.5V DC and a maximum of 24V DC.

Wednesday, August 24, 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. I have purchased this speaker kit for my GCSE project but am not sure how to solder it. Is there a component diagram for making this speaker as opposed to the circuit diagram in the data sheet?
A. Hi Thomas, thank you for your question. There is a component list in the instructions viewable here.

Wednesday, July 27, 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. Does this speaker need an ON/OFF switch or is one provided? If not, could you recommend one for me to use with this speaker system?
A. Hi Thomas, thank you for your question. This is a complete amplifier/speaker kit that requires soldering and has a power on/switch provided to solder onto the amplifier PCB.

A. Hi Tiree, thank you for your question. The PCB is 75 x 50 x 30mm, speakers used are 35-1400 78 x 40mm and battery box is 18-0115 which is 58 x 28mm.

Monday, May 23, 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. Does solder need to be applied to both sides of the PCB?
A. Hi Edin, thank you for your question. This only requires soldering on one side of the PCB.

Saturday, February 20, 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. Hi I would like to power this in my car using a 12v cigarette socket, apart from the heat sink and paste what adapter would you recommend?
A. Hi Paul, thank you for your question. You would need to make up a lead 2.1 x 5.5mm plug like 20-0905 to fused cigarette lighter plug like 20-3000 using any 2 core cable with a rating of 2 amps or a complete adaptor like 51-6913 if you don't want to make one up.

Thursday, February 4, 2016 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. Hello. Can you suggest a Mains to 6v transformer to use with this circuit instead of the battery supply?
A. Hi Aidan, thank you for your question. We would recommend 18-1484.

Thursday, December 3, 2015 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. Hi, One of my students has soldered up a kit, but there is lots interference or buzzing when power is switched on. I cant see any faults with his soldering and there is no problem finding with the build instructions. Do yo have any idea what could be causing it?
A. Hi Tom, thank you for your question. Double check C10 and C11 are 100n and C4 and C5 are 100n as the most common issue as these have been swapped over by mistake causing the amplifier to oscillate and check the 3.5mm input lead hasn't got a broken earth.

Friday, September 25, 2015 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. What is the length of wire from PCB to speaker? Can I extend the length of the wire connecting speaker and PCB and Battery socket to PCB?
A. Hi A Patel, thank you for your question. The kit is supplied with 100cm of speaker wire so 50cm per channel which can be extended if required.

Thursday, January 1, 2015 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 70-0189
Q. would this improve quality of TV sound(frlat screen)?
A. Hi C Rayment. Thank you for your question. This kit may improve sound depends on the quality of the original speaker the flat screen TVs tend to have the speaker at the back so often have a muffled sound so plugging this in, may offer a much better sound. The kit does not come pre-built so requires soldering.

Excellent piece of kit

Reviewed by: Mr Alastair Smith - Wednesday, January 13, 2016
The speakers alone are worth the money, big and solid, large magnet and they pack a punch. The kit is quite straight forward apart from the non electrolytic capacitors. There is one different one, but four that look the same (2 + 2) and I needed the £10 LCD Chinese component checker to find out which was which. Personally if you're going to run more than 6V then buy the heatsink at the same time, so you don't pay extra postage later. Having said that, the 6V battery holder it comes with packs more than a punch and I nearly blew my ears off. I connected it to an earphone matchbox radio I built for the cricket on LW and was it loud, very loud. It's an excellent amp to have for project building. Would I buy another? Yes indeed, worked first time, took a morning to put it together.

Great little kit

Reviewed by: Chris Jubb - Tuesday, June 10, 2014
This kit is fun and straight forward to assemble. All the instructions are clear within the PDF datasheet. The speakers pack a punch and the magnets are quite strong - worth looking into magnetic shielding if you're going to put this near to anything sensitive. You'll probably want to run it at more than 6V so it would be nice if there was an option to buy the kit with the heatsink you recommended.
