Pepperl and Fuchs capacitive sensor is made of V4A stainless steel, and so is suitable for applications in the food sector. Both capacitive and inductive sensors are operate without making contact with the material being sensed. The difference is that capacitive sensors will register conductive and non-conductive materials whilst inductive sensors will only register conductive ones.
