Texas Instruments LM2940CT LDO 12V 1A TO220

The Texas Instruments LM2940CT low-dropout voltage regulator is characterized by low power loss. While the conventional regulators need a differential input/output voltage of approx. 2 - 3VDC, the LM2940 only needs 0.5 - 1VDC. This means lower power dissipation and hence a lower temperature in operation leading to greater reliability. The device is thermally protected, short-circuit-proof and protected against overvoltage.
