The Adafruit I2C-safe Logic Level Converter lets your 5V Arduino (or other microcontroller) talk to 3.3V sensors, displays and flash cards over I2C. Ordinary level shifters won't work with I2C but this bi-directional shifter from Adafruit is specifically designed to do just that. It uses 4 x BSS138 FETs with 10kΩ pull-up resistors allowing 10V on one side and as low as 1.8V on the other. Plus it also works for TTL serial, SPI (<2MHz), and any other digital serial comms. The board does slow down the I2C somewhat so you may not be able to reach the maximum I2C baud rates.
Supplied fully assembled plus 2 x 6-pin male header strips for you to solder on if your project needs them.
*Customers looking to resell on eBay or Amazon should contact Adafruit directly.
