OK, it might be difficult to get your head round someone's passion for superior hookup wire, but let me explain...
I make guitar effects pedals and using high quality materials is high up the list when it comes to what's important in what I do. Opting for a decent hookup wire is a no-brainer.
In the early days I went for the unbranded stuff, thinking "it's hookup wire - how different can this be from the expensive stuff". Then I started using Alpha after getting a good clearance deal, but once I'd tried it, going back to less expensive unbranded hookup wires didn't really seem an option.
Why?...
Superb, consistent quality conductor and insulator make it easy to work with: I like how it holds it's shape well when formed (cuts down on the need for cable ties), without being too rigid. Perfect for what I do.
The colour ways are vibrant and interesting too, which is maybe not a big selling point for most, but again perfect for what I do - the work has got to look as good as it sounds and with Alpha wire, it does.
Yes, it's a bit more expensive the unbranded stuff, but well worth the extra (your return on investment will most likely be returned anyway as its insulation stands up to lead-free soldering temperatures extremely well, meaning less wastage). The 305m reels are pretty decent value too, all told.
Try some - you may not end up writing a rave review for it, but I bet you'll not go back!
