This twin motor gear box uses a two motor system to provide power and speed to turn the round shaft in two different directions.
The gear box is made from high quality plastic. Use this gear box and motor set to construct mechanical toys and robotic products. Two battery powered motors are included. The easily adjusted gearboxes can be used with a gear ratio of 1:60, 1:120 or 1:288.
Ideal for hobbies and education projects
Two motor and gearbox sets to have wheels running in different directions
3 different gear ratios for out of your choice
3V motors
Battery operated
17mm radius wheels with tyres
Drive shaft diameter 2mm (approx)
All other necessary parts included
Easy to follow instruction manual included
Assembled dimensions 76.5 x 66.5 x 36.5mm (W x D x H)
Q. Daft question: can the shafts be turned independently forwards and backwards, e.g. by changing motor connection polarity, or does the gear configuration mean that they *always* turn in opposite directions?
A. Hi Tim, thanks for your question. The shaft runs centrally through the gear box so both will turn the same way dependent on the polarity. Full data sheet here.
Q. Hi,
What size (radius) are the wheels with tyres included in the product?
Thanks
A. Hi Josh. Thank you for your question. The radius of the wheels (without tyres fitted) is approximately 17mm.

If you are thinking of making a basic robot this kit is a great help. I wasn't so interested in the mechanical side of the project so this solved a lot of problems for me with minimal cost or effort.
Nice kit with everything in it.

Unlike other motor and gearbox products this one comes with everything you'd need to make a basic robot. The fact that you can change the gear ratio also adds to the flexibility of the product. The motors easily run off 5V which is great for powering the motor with an L293 or a transistor circuit connected to an Arduino or other microcontroller board. One down side of the product is it takes a bit of concentration to assemble correctly as it comes unassembled and the parts are not clearly labeled, however despite this the price really makes this great for creating drawing robots, by mounting a pen onto the front to draw and rest on.

The gearbox can be a bit fiddly to construct, but once built it is a nice item to base a robot or vehicle upon. The motors seem to be happy at 2.5V and sink approx 400mA with a moderate load. The kit comes with wheels and crank arms.
