Maxwell's Wheel apparatus demonstrates momentum, conservation of energy and torque. It consists of a large flywheel suspended by two strong cords. The cords are wound around the shaft of the wheel and then released.
The wheel unwinds the cords as it falls, and winds itself back up as momentum continues to spin the wheel. This process will continue for several oscillations, gradually coming to a stop as the wheel loses momentum and therefore travels less each time.
