This 4GB Raspberry Pi 4 starter kit has been designed to help get you up and running as easily as possible.

Each kit contains a 4GB Raspberry Pi 4, plug-in power supply* with USB C connector, 32GB microSD memory card and a 2m HDMI cable with gold connectors.

* The Raspberry Pi 4 needs more power than previous models and has a different power connector, so you won't be able to use power supplies from older versions.

The Raspberry Pi 4 Model B is the latest product in the popular Raspberry Pi range of computers.

It offers ground-breaking increases in processor speed, multimedia performance, memory, and connectivity compared to the previous generation Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+, while retaining backwards compatibility and similar power consumption.

For the end user, Raspberry Pi 4 Model B provides desktop performance comparable to entry-level x86 PC systems.

The product's key features include a high-performance 64-bit quad-core processor, dual-display support at resolutions up to 4K via a pair of micro-HDMI ports, hardware video decode at up to 4Kp60, up to 4GB of RAM, dual-band 2.4/5.0GHz wireless LAN, Bluetooth 5.0, Gigabit Ethernet, USB 3.0, and PoE capability (via a separate PoE HAT add-on).

The dual-band wireless LAN and Bluetooth have modular compliance certification, allowing the board to be designed into end products with significantly reduced compliance testing, improving both cost and time to market.

The kit is supplied with a 32GB microSD memory card that is blank so that customers may choose which operating system to install. Operating system installation is easy and instructions can be found at www.raspberrypi.org.

Q. Does this board have the relevant upgrade to overcome the know recent USB C charger problem?
A. Hi David, thank you for your question. As far as we are aware this issue is down to the type of USB C charger rather than the board, specifically smart type chargers like those shipped with Macbooks that do not operate correctly. We recommend these are only used with the charger supplied with the kit.

Wow! The Raspberry Pi comes of age!

I bought the 4Gb RAM version, because I was interested to see how it would perform against a similarly specified netbook. Once I'd identified the right power supply to use with it (the Apple ones are useless, by the way), formatted and written a Raspbian micro SD card (Balena Etcher is my preferred tool for this), found a suitable micro HDMI to ordinary HDMI lead, and plugged it all together, I gave it its first boot. The OS re-sized itself and rebooted. Once configured, I tried it against an Acer netbook.... The Pi is (roughly) five times faster! This little machine is good enough for day to day computing. I've since built three "miniature desktop" machines for the benefit of aging relatives. They think that they're fabulous! Highly recommended!

A big upgrade!

Previously, one had to wait around for quite some time for the Pi3 to get its act together. This is a massive upgrade in terms of speed and usability. I have been using it as a main computer and it is very capable. I could quite easily see our school using a set of these as desktop replacements.
