Warton metals future HF low melting point 62S halide-free, no clean, solder wire is a high-purity solder containing a halide-free, modified-rosin flux, ideal for applications where a product's long-term reliability is dependent on the corrosion potential of the flux.

  • 18swg (1.22mm)
  • Suitable for hand soldering surface mount components
  • No-clean formulation exhibits the minimum of clear residue, with no offensive odours generated during soldering
  • The silver content minimises leaching from terminations and improves resistance to thermal fatigue
  • Solder content: 62% tin, 2% silver, 36% lead
  • Melting temperature: 179°C
  • Supplied on a 250g reel

Please note: As of 1st March 2018 the supply of solder containing lead at a concentration above the relevant limit as set out under Article 67 (by virtue of Annex XVII of the REACH regulation) is restricted to professional use only.

We recommend that schools use lead-free solder for all projects.

Q. hello How wide is the reel. I want to know t see if it will go on my solder stand. Many thanks Andrew
A. Hi Andrew, thank you for your question. The reel measures approximately 58mm long with a OD of 65mm (max).

Tuesday, February 21, 2012 Question by: Rapid Customer | Product code: 85-6370
Q. Melting point of solder is quoted as 179 degrees, Is there a recommended iron temperature for temperature controlled soldering stations? TIA
A. Hi TG Thomas, thanks for your question. The melting point given is a little misleading as the solder would only just be losing its “solid” nature and would be more like a stick of thick jelly – not very practical in real terms. If heat transfer damage is a consideration we would suggest a few trials so see what works best since the wattage of the station iron will be a factor as well as the size of the job to do. We would recommend starting at 250Deg C and expect to end up at approx 300- 320 Deg C for effective use (normal Lead solder works well at 350Deg C)
