The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 with a standard (75°) lens is a high quality 12 Megapixel Sony IMX708 image sensor custom designed add-on board for the Raspberry Pi, featuring powered autofocus, improved low-light sensitivity and High Dynamic Range (HDR) support.
It connects to the Raspberry Pi via the dedicated Camera Serial Interface (CSI), designed especially for interfacing to cameras, using the short ribbon cable attached to the module. Camera Module 3's operation is fully supported by the libcamera library, including the rapid autofocus feature making it easy for beginners to use, while offering plenty for advanced users.
Camera Module 3 is available in standard (visible-light-only) and infrared-sensitive (NoIR) variants, with either a standard (75°) or wide-angle (120°) lens, giving you more options for your specific project needs. It can be used to take full HD video as well as stills photographs, and features an HDR mode up to 3 megapixels. The module is capable of 4608x2592 pixel images and 4608x2592 @14 FPS/2304x1296 @56 FPS/1536x864 @120FPS video. When HDR is enabled, the resolution is limited to 2304x1296 @ 30 FPS.
The small size and light weight of this module make it ideal for mobile or other applications where size and weight are important. Suitable applications include CCTV security camera, motion detection, time lapse photography, etc.
