Q. Hi,
Can you use a USB power bank to power the board and if so, do you stock one?
A. Hi Connor, thank you for your question. A USB output would only supply 5 volts, these boards require a 6-12 volts supply.

Q. Hello, We have used these boards for the past few years with the non-USB download cables, since moving into a new building and updating our ICT system we have had to purchase the USB cables, we cannot get these to work! We use circuit wizard to program them but the boards will just not connect, are there any drivers we need? I have spoken to my ICT support team in school and they have suggested I ask you.
Thanks
A. Hi E Heafield, thank you for your question. Yes the USB cable will need a driver which can be downloaded here. The instructions can be found here.

Q. Hi,
The E18 takes batteries from 6V to 12V. Is there a 12V Battery holder available and if not, what is the best method for attached 12v.
A. Hi Paul, thank you for your question. You would need to use 2 x 6V holders wired in series to get 12V. 18-3695 is the code for the 6V 4 x AA battery holder.

Q. On the inputs section of the board would I be able to program it to detect when a 12v feed is send to it and action accordingly?
A. Hi James, thank you for your question. The inputs are 5V max, however, if you connect the 12V to a relay and use the contacts of the relay to switch 5V to the input.

Q. Hi,
I'm looking to use this to control a simple motor mechanism which will turn one way for a set period of time when a switch is activated and once the switch is reset it will turn the motor the opposite way and so on. Would this kit be suitable? And what motors would you suggest. I need it to be fairly slow moving so I was thinking stepper motor.
A. Hi James, thank you for your question. This kit would be able to do as requested as it will control either DC motors/stepper motors. Possibly something like 51-5120 may be worth considering.

Q. Hi,
I e-mail yesterday asking about using 12v to run the board as I am using two economy motors, 2 LED's and a sounder. What is the best way to supply 12V into the board and using what battery types. I'm fairly new to using electronics.
Many thanks,
Conor
A. Hi Conor. Thank you for your question. You can use a battery box that takes 8 batteries such as 18-0128.
