Horz Switches used with Vert mount PCBs
Reviewed by: H. Chester - Tuesday, September 9, 2014I've made many prototype modules for 19" and Euro Rack units in the past, predominantly in the Industrial Instrument Trade.
Mounting DPDT etc. Switches normally entails drilling a hole,
Filing the hole to produce a lock tab. Then soldering the wires on the switch and fitting a suitable PCB plug.
I now use Vertical panel mounting action, Horizontal PCB mount Switches
e.g. Type 75-0176 DPDT Sub Min R/a PCB Toggle Switch.
As there no exposed wires, Induced/Radiated noise is at a minimum.
As a bonus, all I need to do is to drill a hole corresponding to the Switch X-Y co-ordinates on the front panel ...no more Filing!!!
