Ideal for low code rotary encoding

Reviewed by: Rick Fornalski - 05 February 2020
When I first connected this to my "full" quadrature decoder software, (Written in PIC Assembler) the encoder incremented my variable by two. A simple check indicated that whilst the full quad encoding is presented to the device pins (clearly), the detent positions only permit the outputs to be both high or both low, the transitions being output between detents. This is not an issue but it might be nice to be aware of if your counting software appears to run a bit quicker than you expected.
