The Grove Moisture Sensor from Seeed Studio has two conductive prongs which can be pushed into soil or other substrate to measure the water content. It returns the moisture as an analogue signal, a small signal means dry, a large signal means wet.

Operating voltage: 3.3 to 5V
Sensor in dry soil: 0 to 30%
Sensor in humid soil: 30% to 70%
Sensor in water: 70% to 95%
