The PICAXE micromouse kit is a self-contained, autonomous, maze-solving robot that is designed for students and amateur enthusiasts alike. The kit has been developed by the 2007 UK Micromouse champions Derek Hall and Jim Chidley and is intended as a project to assemble and program a device that wiil demonstrate computer controlled responses to an external environment.

The kit features easy-to-follow detailed photo construction plans and explanations of component usage as well as flowchart diagrams to assist in the BASIC programming required. All the key design elements are fully explained along with design tips and fine-tuning hints. With the addition of a few basic tools, soldering equipment/glue gun, a battery and download cable anyone with a degree of competence in soldering will be easily able to assemble this micromouse.

Assembling and preparing this kit will provide practical teaching through: complete stage by stage assembly,electronic component soldering, simple motor gearbox construction, and programming and computer control.
