A set of three rugged, sealed, transparent plastic tubes containing coloured fluids of three different viscosities. The bubble in each tube rises at a constant speed which depends on the type of fluid, the angle at which the tube is inclined and to some extent the temperature.
Students can measure the time it takes for the bubble to move from the bottom to the top of the three different tubes. Their observations will help them to link the mathematical concept of slope to the physical science concept of velocity.
